THE CONTENDER - ASIA / CANADIAN QUALIFIER


In a little less than 2weeks (on September 20th, 2008), eight of Canada's top and most talented Muay Thai athletes converge in Calgary to participate in the Canadian Qualifier to earn the right to represent Canada in Muaythai's Shining Light (and television show) - The Contender - Asia Season 2.
Interest in the Canadian event is intense within Canada and around the world. The venue is sold out and the event will be televised around the world.
The reality show which is produced by Mark Burnett Productions (Survivor, The Contender, etc.) in partnership with Imagine Omni Media. The show is supported and sanctioned by the world governing body for Muaythai the World Muaythai Council. The Contender - Asia was rated the number 1 show in all of Asia for Season One and has been nominated for an International emmy. After attaining success in Asia, the first season is presently being aired around the rest of the world.
The rating and support for the show has been so successful, that Season 2 is being planned with qualifier's being held around the world. The interest from athletes from around the world has been so intense to enter and compete, that many athletes who win in their national qualifiers may have to compete in a second qualifier being held in Asia. With this in mind, Season 2 promises to be a scorcher with rumors of great talent from around the world.
Eight of Canada's Best Muay Thai Athletes featuring 4 Western Canadian and 4 Eastern Canadian Hopefuls. People involved in the production of the event have been very impressed with the quality of Canadian athletes entering the competition. This show is one not to miss.
Each few days there will be highlight of each entering athlete as well as the Superfights which include Trevor 'T.N.T.' Smandych, Scott 'The Pitbull' Clark and Jessica 'Fists of Fury' Gladstone.
The bidding is on... what country will be the host for Contender Season two? Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Macau are all in the bidding war to be the host country for Season two. |
