Contender and WMC Promotes Muaythai Youth Development
The producers of The Contender, in co-operation with the WMC did a special day for kids. This day was designated to promote Muaythai to the young generation and the great Contender hype made many kids look up to their Contender heroes.
A special event was organized in which kids who had been selected had the chance to spend the day with the likes of Yodsaenklai, John Wayne Parr, Dzhabar, Soren, Sean Wright, Zach, and Zidov. Also, the WMC Vice President and mentor Stephan Fox and the host of the show Jaymee Ong attended. This received great media publicity, as the kids spent over 6 hours training, asking questions, and in the evening a special dinner was prepared between the current Contender superstars and the future Contender superstars.
The mentor of the show, Stephan Fox told the kids that, “a healthy mind and healthy body are some of the key ingredients for life.”
Muaythai has deep traditions and fostering the kids is a very important aspect for the development of the youngsters. The WMC and IFMA have a special Youth Development Commission and since 2002 included Junior World Championships. The last championships had kids from over 50 countries participating.
