SPORTS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

This is the motto of the World Muaythai Council, the world governing body for all Muaythai and the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur, the world governing body for amateur Muaythai. Many charity projects are operated through these organizations from Thailand in over 50 countries.

His Excellency General Pichitr Kullavanijaya, the Honorary President of the WMC and IFMA and Privy Councilor to His Majesty the King of Thailand, is the driving force behind this campaign with the aim of getting kids off the streets. Every Saturday morning boxing rings and training areas for kids to learn the values of Muaythai can be seen around different locations in Bangkok.
Those who perform well academically have a shot at being selected to perform the ancient art of Muay Boran in foreign countries at various WMC and IFMA events. These trips are like a dream come true for many of these kids, giving them the opportunity to be ambassadors of their national sport whilst visiting foreign countries.

Many different campaigns are part of the Muaythai charity program. Muaythai for Kids In Need is aimed to provide necessities for the kids who have been less fortunate in life. For example, over 1.5 million dollars worth of care packages and aide were raised and donated. Her Royal Highness Princess Ubonratana has rewarded a token of appreciation to the IFMA General Secretary and WMC Vice President, Stephan Fox, on behalf of the WMC and IFMA world Muaythai community.
Every year the WMC and IFMA World Board gives out a Muaythai Humanitarian Award to encourage all national member federations to keep up their hard work in using the values, traditions and friendship in the sport to give something back to the community by taking the kids off the streets and helping to integrate them back into society for a better and brighter future. Respect for one another is the key ingredient in the art and sport. Muaythai brought us all together and the world Muaythai community will thrive on the good deeds of our members as this is an integral part of Muaythai.
