Press conference to announce the World’s Biggest Muaythai Event

The ballroom at the Radisson Hotel was filled to capacity with sporting officials, press from print and TV and athletes for the Press Conference to announce the WMC S-1 Two-day MuayThai Festival to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty, the King of Thailand.

This exciting event will take place on the 4th and 5th of December in Sanam Luang Park right in front of the Grand Palace, with an expected audience of an incredible 1 million people !

The trophy for the most outstanding boxer in the WMC S1 competition has been donated by His Majesty the King of Thailand which refelcts the importance of this event.

The press conference was graciously opened by General Pichitr Kullavanijaya, Privy Councillor to HRH, the King and attended by General Chetta Thanajaro, President WMC, Dr. Sakchye Tapsuwan, President IFMA , Dr. Jarin Sounkeaw , Head of the Organising Committee for the December 5th Bangkok Celebrations ,Thailand’s Super promoter Mr Songchai Ratanasuban with Ms Pariyakorn Ratanasuban and WMC Vice-President Stephan Fox as well as representatives from embassies and consulates in Bangkok.

This event, the largest MuayThai event in the world will see boxers from 32 countries, male and female, gathering to honour His Majesty together with the people of Thailand.

For the first time in Thailand, there will be the WMC S-1 Super-8 at Super Heavy weight. 12 boxers have travelled for this contest from around the world with 8 of them battling it out for the WMC S-1 Title Belt and the others in 2 WMC Super-fights. This will be a contest unparalleled for excitement - the event will be televised live for 3 ? hrs to bring the world to Thailand.

Not only this but also the WMC Intercontinental belt at 63.5 kgs, 2 WMC MuayThai Against Drugs title fights and a great undercard of specially selected international and Thai boxers.

10 female boxers will step into the ring for the Miss MuayThai title – a title which can only be won with a winning combination of personality and deadly MuayThai skills. This event also has received a huge press coverage and also will be televised live for 3 hrs.

  

The WMC S-1 at 72 kgs will see Russia taking on Thailand in a scintillating 4 man contest.

There also will be amateur fights sanctioned under IFMA to celebrate the inclusion of Muaythai into the General Assembly of International Sport Federation , a milestone in the history of Muaythai .

The conference also announced the first ever Miss Round Girl contest - 6 beautiful women from around the world will compete for a place in the Open Asian Grand Prix.

The Thai national team will give a display of MuayThai Aerobics, the latest development in this ever-changing sport.

Selected junior students from the Royal School for MuayBoran will give 2 displays of this ancient art, the root from which our sport springs.

The crowd will fill Sanam Luang from 4 pm in the afternoon until 2 am on the 4th and 5th. Every fight is sure to be action-packed and not to be missed.

This 2-day WMC event will be the highlight of the huge celebrations for His Majesty in this the year of the Diamond Jubilee of his Accession to the Throne of Thailand.
